Volunteers

Serving with CFM may be one of the most meaningful, and joyful, things you ever do in your life, serving the Lord to help meet the spiritual and relational needs of some of the neediest kids in our society.

Currently, volunteers from at least 7 different Bible-based churches work with kids from ages K-12 in our Thursday night Cornerstone Club program. It is basically a “Fun + Bible-teaching ministry”. The “Fun” can range from coloring to games & puzzles to basketball, volleyball, & soccer, depending on the age. The Bible-teaching is also age-appropriate -- depending on the learning level and needs of each age level. The current volunteers have basically ‘fallen in love’ with these kids and recognize that God loves them too, and desires to draw them closer to Him.

The program is held in the spacious gym and classrooms of New Community Baptist Church.

It is a privilege to serve Him and the kids in this very important ministry. There are challenges, but also a great joy in seeing the kids grow in wisdom and in the knowledge of God and His Word. Indeed, many come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ as a result of the ministry on Thursday and beyond. Many of our volunteers have served in this ministry for over 10 years.

To a large extent, the impact of the ministry is dependent on forming close relationships with the kids. They come because they see our love for and steady commitment to them, and many are ‘blown away’’ when they find out we are not paid.

Because we want to be diligent to protect all His children, all volunteers must agree to our Statement of Faith and agree to a background screening.

Currently Available Positions
	Prayer Warrior- Commits to pray weekly for needs of Cornerstone Family Ministries. Bible Study Teacher- Thursday- 7-9 p.m. Loves Christ and kids. Gifted and called to teach Bible and spiritual growth topics in culturally and age appropriate relevant way. Bible Study Teacher’s Assistant- Thursday- 7-9 p.m. Loves Christ and kids. Helps teacher with classroom set up, keeping order, serving snack, passing out materials, cleaning rooms before departure, etc. Gym Attendant- Thursday- 7:15-8:45pm. Helps teachers keep gym safe & sane during playtime. Must be patient, love kids, and athletic ability helpful. Tutor/Mentor -  Tuesday– 4-6p.m. Loves Christ and kids, very patient, willing to interact with parents. Helps students struggling with reading, math, and language arts. Licensed CDL Bus Driver- Thursday- 6:30-9:30p.m. Some weeks. Pick up students from Spring Branch apartment complexes. Licensed to drive 24-passenger bus (no air brakes). Love’s Christ, Preferred- patient with unruly kids, some interaction with parents. Spring Branch ISD In-School Mentor- Mentors one Cornerstone student at their school during the day. School counselor arranges schedule. Must pass school district background check. Flexible hours. Once a week. Kitchen Helper- Thursday 6:30-7:45pm. Prepares pizza, drinks, napkins, and plates for approximately 6 classrooms. Special programs- Occasionally
